A Man Named Phil…

A few months ago I decided to write an article about 8 Key Points to a Voicemail Greeting. That article went on to be the most popular one that I have written. It has been viewed 500 times, and been linked by at least 7 other bloggers.

In doing my initial research, I came across a similar article by Phil Gerbyshack of Make It Great With Phil. In his article, he listed his phone number for people to call to hear his voicemail greeting. So I thought, what the heck, and called this man from Milwaukee.

I didn’t get the chance to listen to his voicemail because he answered the phone. We ended up talking for about 10 minutes. Since then, I consider Phil one of my mentors in the Blogging Community. Not only has he always been available to answer my questions, but always finds the time to talk to me about his wonderful Brewers!

His website, Make It Great With Phil, is an incredible website filled with tips and tricks about making life Great! Please take the time to check his website out, you will enjoy it.

Personal Development Wherever You Go

MP3 players are very inexpensive and they are everywhere. Even my phone can play MP3s. 97% of the MP3 players are filled with music, maybe a few pictures, but nothing that will bring you a single step towards your goals.

Why not fill your player instead with personal development or motivational information? It is very easy to turn your audio CDs into an MP3 files, purchase MP3 file audio CDs, or download free audio CDs from various websites on the internet. One of the best sites that I have found is http://www.mp3motivators.com

Also, MP3 players have become very inexpensive. My recommendation would be either the Creative Stone which can load 10 CDs and it is very reasonably priced at $40 or the Creative Zen Stone Plus which can load about 20 CDs, FM Player, Clock, Voice Recorder, and Stopwatch, priced around $70. They are also small enough (about the size of 2 quarters), to where you can take it with you everywhere.

Book Review: If How-To’s Were Enough, We Would All Be Skinny, Rich and Happy!

Posted by Rohit Rohila | Posted in Recommendations | Posted on 22-06-2007

Brian KelmmerFor the past three years, I have been reading a personal development book everyday for at least an hour, no exceptions! One of the most influential books I have read is by author/speaker Brian Klemmer, titled If How-To’s Were Enough We Would All be Skinny, Rich and Happy. Long title, but right to the point.

Have you noticed all of the “How-To” books that are at the book store? There is a “how-to” for everything these days. Simple steps to follow that will make you a millionaire, a better lover, get out of debt, take better photos, etc. Do they really work though? Well to get right to the point of Brian Klemmer’s book, if How-To’s really were enough, then we all really would be skinny, rich, and happy. But the truth is that they don’t work!

The reason that they don’t work is that people have a hard time with commitment, an intention! If I asked you right now to cross the room, each way a different way, you could do it for a while. You would walk across, run, jump, backward, cartwheel, crawl, etc. But sooner or later, you would run out of different ways to cross. Ok, now if I offered you $1,000 to keep going… guess what… now all of a sudden you CAN think of more ways.

What changed? The same challenge was still there, but now, you had intention. The same thing with New Years Resolution. Come February no one even remembers what they had promised themselves. Part of that is because they didn’t have true intention, but also because they weren’t specific enough. There is a huge difference between “This year I’d like to lose weight and get healthy” and “By March 15th I am going to lose 12 pounds by walking 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week”.

This book was so eye opening for me that I began to make drastic changes in my life. I also took great strides forward in my personal development by attending Brian Klemmer’s Seminars. Were the seminars and the book effective? Well, this website should speak for itself :)

I highly recommend purchasing this book right now. You can get it for as low as $5 from Amazon.
