Sorry for the delay…

Hello everyone. It has been about a week since my last post. I finally decided to make the move to Ubuntu Linux. What does that mean? No more Microsoft. No more Microsoft Windows, no more Microsoft Office. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but so far it’s going ok. Once I have a handle on things, I’ll write a post about it.

I’ll be back to my normal schedule of an article a day next week! Thanks for your patience.

Book Review: If How-To’s Were Enough, We Would All Be Skinny, Rich and Happy!

Brian KelmmerFor the past three years, I have been reading a personal development book everyday for at least an hour, no exceptions! One of the most influential books I have read is by author/speaker Brian Klemmer, titled If How-To’s Were Enough We Would All be Skinny, Rich and Happy. Long title, but right to the point.

Have you noticed all of the “How-To” books that are at the book store? There is a “how-to” for everything these days. Simple steps to follow that will make you a millionaire, a better lover, get out of debt, take better photos, etc. Do they really work though? Well to get right to the point of Brian Klemmer’s book, if How-To’s really were enough, then we all really would be skinny, rich, and happy. But the truth is that they don’t work!

The reason that they don’t work is that people have a hard time with commitment, an intention! If I asked you right now to cross the room, each way a different way, you could do it for a while. You would walk across, run, jump, backward, cartwheel, crawl, etc. But sooner or later, you would run out of different ways to cross. Ok, now if I offered you $1,000 to keep going… guess what… now all of a sudden you CAN think of more ways.

What changed? The same challenge was still there, but now, you had intention. The same thing with New Years Resolution. Come February no one even remembers what they had promised themselves. Part of that is because they didn’t have true intention, but also because they weren’t specific enough. There is a huge difference between “This year I’d like to lose weight and get healthy” and “By March 15th I am going to lose 12 pounds by walking 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week”.

This book was so eye opening for me that I began to make drastic changes in my life. I also took great strides forward in my personal development by attending Brian Klemmer’s Seminars. Were the seminars and the book effective? Well, this website should speak for itself :)

I highly recommend purchasing this book right now. You can get it for as low as $5 from Amazon.
